  • Over 9 million IVF babies have been born across the world so far.
  • Studies reveal approximately 50% of IVF pregnancies result in a live birth for women of 35 years or below.
  • Under ideal circumstances, India’s IVF success rate shoots up to 70-80%.
  • IVF Treatment Cost in India is just one-fifth compared to other parts worldwide.

So, if you are diagnosed with infertility, you have all the reasons to rely on IVF Treatment.

Well, wait!

Did you know?

IVF is recognized not only as the most successful but also the safest infertility treatment.

Before proceeding with the details of the IVF Treatment Process, IVF Success Rate, IVF Babies, and more, let us first understand what IVF is.

What is IVF?

IVF, or In Vitro Fertilization, refers to the fertilization outside the female body under the monitored ART laboratories.

In this process, the sperm and ovaries are first retrieved from the couple, fertilized in the bowl, and left for embryo formation.

Afterward, the selective embryos are transferred to the female uterus, and the remaining ones are cryopreserved for utilization in the subsequent IVF cycle (if required).

These embryos are further developed into babies inside the womb.

IVF Pregnancy is similar to a normal pregnancy after the first few weeks of embryo transfer.

IVF with Donor Programme

If IVF with the self eggs and sperm is not possible, the doctors recommend IVF using a donor program

Based on the personalized condition of the couple, the doctors prescribe donor sperm, donor eggs, or both.

Donor programme IVF is usually for couples with:

  • Low sperm count
  • Lower sperm quality
  • Poor egg quality
  • Minimal ovarian reserve
  • 35+ years of age
  • Females with single ovaries
  • Women who have attained early menopause, and
  • Other unknown infertility conditions wherein conceiving with IVF treatment without a donor is impossible.

Crysta IVF has the best doctors and gynecologists in the advanced fertility clinic in Lucknow and other parts of India, with over two decades of experience.

Congratulations! On Taking The First Step to Parenthood Through IVF

IVF Treatment is undoubtedly a result-oriented process, but deciding on IVF can be challenging.

The treatment process involves the couple’s physical, mental, emotional, and financial well-being.

However, it’s worth taking all the pain, and you can also realize the same when you reach the destination of parenthood after completing the challenging IVF journey.

Let Us Understand the Steps to IVF Pregnancy

Initiating the IVF Process:

During the normal menstrual cycle, the reproductory hormones add to the growth of multiple fluid-filled follicles within the ovaries. However, out of these numerous ovarian follicles, only a single ovary matures enough to ovulate.

Now, the chances of success with a single ovary are rare. So, the doctors recommend ovarian stimulation before initiating the IVF Treatment. The FSH injections trigger the mature developing follicles and the release of multiple ovaries available for fertilization.

Doctors usually give FSH stimulating injections between 9-14 days of the menstrual cycle.

Based on the patient’s condition, the doctors recommend different beginning for the IVF Treatment. It can usually be of two types:

Pituitary Suppression Before Stimulation:

Before initiating the treatment plan, the doctors at the Best IVF Centre in Delhi will share with you the number of injections necessary for FSH stimulation, duration, instructions, and other medicinal assessment necessary during the IVF cycle.

Monitoring The Ovarian Stimulation:

After the ovarian stimulation, the doctors conduct ultrasounds and blood tests to administer the proper response and growth of the ovaries. If the stimulation is as per the ideal requirement, then it is possible to retrieve the required number of ovaries, filter the high-quality eggs, and improve the success rate of the IVF cycle.

Monitoring the ovarian stimulation with the necessary tests on time can reduce frequent visits to the infertility clinic.

Egg and Sperm Retrieval:

The ideal time for egg retrieval is within 36-48 hours after the final hCG injection for ovarian stimulation. Egg retrieval is usually under the impact of light sedation. The timing for injection and egg retrieval is crucial for the success of IVF Treatment. It takes approximately 20 to 30 minutes to complete the egg retrieval process.

After successfully completing ovarian retrieval, the doctor asks the male partner to produce the fresh semen sample. For semen sample, the male partner can visit the IVF Clinic in Delhi or collect the semen sample at home and later drop it at the clinic.

In specific cases, the doctors might perform fertilization using frozen eggs and sperms.

For successful IVF Pregnancy, both the egg and sperm quality are equally important.

Fertilization In The Lab:

The collected sperm is then washed and concentrated before fertilizing it with the eggs. Usually, the doctors initiate the fertilization process after 4 to 5 hours of egg retrieval. Once the egg and sperm are in ideal condition, the doctor places the sperm and eggs in an incubator overnight. The doctors monitor the signs of fertilization the following day.

Facts reveal that with high-quality eggs and sperm, 60 to 70% of ovaries fertilize. The fertilized eggs are further shifted in an incubator for 48 hours.

After the process is complete, the doctor might fix an appointment with you for a detailed discussion.

Embryo Transfer:

The doctors recommend embryo transfer usually after 5 to 6 days of egg retrieval. The finalized embryos are placed in the uterus by using a thin catheter. It is a painless process, and it takes only a few minutes to complete the process.

Also, doctors consider several factors in deciding on a single or multiple embryo transfer. After the transfer, the remaining high-quality embryos are frozen so that they can be used for consequent IVF cycles.

Pregnancy Test:

The doctors conduct a pregnancy test after 14 days of embryo transfer to confirm IVF Pregnancy. The pregnancy test results decide the further steps of your IVF Treatment Cycle.

All the steps mentioned earlier are the standard stages of IVF Treatment. However, the doctors may customize the entire IVF process based on the medical condition of the couple.

IVF Pregnancy and Birth

IVF Pregnancy only differs up to the fertilization and implantation process. After the first few weeks of embryo transfer, IVF Pregnancy is similar to that of a normal pregnancy.

Although, the doctor keeps you under close supervision in the first trimester to avoid any chances of complications or risks in the pregnancy.

However, the chances of multiple pregnancies are higher in the case of In Vitro Fertilization, approximately 30%.

Now, considering the birth after IVF pregnancy, it is essential to note that approximately 80% of IVF Births are preterm. For a better understanding, we can also say that the gestational period for IVF pregnancy is less than normal, usually 34 to 36 weeks.

Yet another question that strikes significant women is whether a standard delivery is possible after IVF pregnancy or not?

Well, the answer is yes, it’s possible. Normal delivery and cesarean delivery are less dependent on the type of conceiving and significantly rely on the medical conditions and health of the mom as well as the baby at the time of delivery.

Don’t Hesitate; Take a Step: IVF Babies are Healthy and Beautiful

Some couples are indecisive, worrying about IVF babies. Will they be healthy? Are there any risks and complications involved?

Well, No.

While you are planning for IVF Baby, you shall acknowledge and understand that IVF babies and normal babies differ only in terms of conceiving. There are no short-term or long-term risks associated with IVF babies.

So, you can plan your IVF baby with no doubts and only clarification.
