Fertility Treatment Q&A : Answered By Dr. Sutapan Samanta
Q: Is IVF painful or risky?
No, IVF is not painful or risky, though it involves hormone injections, ultrasounds, and two minor procedures, egg retrieval and embryo transfer. These are done under mild sedation or anaesthesia and are generally safe. We ensure you are well informed and comfortable at every step.
Q: We had one failed IVF cycle in a fertility centre. Should we try again?
Absolutely. A failed cycle is tough emotionally, but it also gives us valuable information. I always reassess hormone profiles, embryo quality, uterine receptivity, and overall protocols. With an improved plan, many couples succeed after previous failures.
Q: Is male infertility common? My semen report wasn’t normal.
Yes, male infertility is more common than people think. A single semen report doesn’t tell the whole story. We at Crysta IVF often do detailed assessments like hormone tests, scrotal ultrasound, and DNA fragmentation. Many conditions are treatable, and with ICSI, even men with very low sperm counts can become a fathers.
Q: My AMH level is low. Can I still conceive through IVF?
Yes, you can still conceive through IVF even if you have low AMH. Low AMH indicates reduced ovarian reserve, but it doesn’t rule out the possibility of pregnancy. We at Crysta IVF use customised stimulation protocols and may also suggest egg pooling or donor options depending on your situation. I’ve helped many women with low AMH conceive successfully
Q: What is the success rate of IVF treatment? Is it guaranteed?
IVF success depends on many factors such as your age, egg quality, sperm parameters, and any underlying health issues. While no treatment can guarantee success, IVF gives many couples a real chance at parenthood, especially when done at the right time with the right approach.
Q: I’ve been trying to conceive for over a year but no success. When should I consider fertility treatment?
If you've been trying to conceive for more than 12 months (or 6 months if you're over 35), it's time to consult a fertility specialist. Early diagnosis helps us plan better treatments and improves your chances of success.
